Hurricane Films present a short taster for FETCH to preview the full-length feature film due to be shot in spring 2025.
The taster features cast members; Robert Bathurst (Cold Feet / Downton Abbey), Ray Fearon (Fleabag / Champion), Andrew Schofield (Sid And Nancy) and Sue Johnston (Royal Family / Waking The Dead). The full cast for the main production - shooting in Liverpool next year - will also include Lee Mack (Not Going Out) and Dorothy Atkinson (Mum / Saltburn), with further cast members to be announced.
FETCH is a comedy about a group of disparate dog walkers excited by the arrival of a puppy-owning mysterious stranger who they hope can protect them. First they must convince the reluctant hero that the perceived threats are real and to help them win back their park and defeat the law breakers, the antisocial and the downright rude.
Set entirely within a beautiful expansive Victorian park, FETCH is an insight into the fascinating world of dog walking; where dog owners don’t know the names of the people they see and speak to every day despite knowing their dog’s name and everything about them.
‘FETCH’ will be directed by Roy Boulter - making his directorial debut - having produced ten theatrically released features over the past fifteen years. Boulter also wrote the script, having amassed an extensive list of TV writing credits (including Brookside, East Enders and Jimmy McGovern’s ‘The Street’). Prior to his screen career, he enjoyed chart-topping success as a member of the 90s band The Farm (All Together Now / Groovy Train) – and still performs and records with the band. Boulter’s music connections have led to the film’s songs being written by some of the country’s most successful artists. A list of household names are currently composing ten original songs for the film.
Produced by Solon Papadopoulos – who along with Boulter – has produced Hurricane’s previous releases - all of which premiered at A-list international festivals - including three with legendary director Terence Davies. ‘Of Time And The City’ (for which Sol and Roy were BAFTA-nominated), ‘Sunset Song’ (Peter Mullan and Agyness Deyn) and ‘A Quiet Passion’ (Cynthia Nixon, Jennifer Ehle & Keith Carradine) - followed by; ‘A Prayer Before Dawn’ (Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire - starring Joe Cole). ‘Sometimes Always Never’ (written by Frank Cottrell Boyce, directed by Carl Hunter - starring Bill Nighy, Sam Riley and Jenny Agutter) and ‘The Last Bus’ (Gillies McKinnon - starring Timothy Spall).
Production is set for Spring 2025 in Liverpool.
All over the world, people from all walks of life go out, day and night - whatever the weather - to hang around with complete strangers. The only thing these people have in common is a four-legged friend.
